Door Shakespeare, Producing Artistic Director Michael Stebbins, and Managing Director Amy Ensign, have announced their first virtual production: 'Rosalind,' by J.M. Barrie, running Wednesday, September 2 through Sunday, September 13. Shows are Wednesdays through Fridays at 7:30, Saturdays at 5:00 and 7:30, and Sundays at 5:00. Tribeca Announces 2020 Short Film Lineup

The 19th annual Tribeca Film Festival, presented by AT&T, today announced its 2020 Shorts Program lineup. Setting a record with over 6,100 submissions, the final program roster includes 64 diverse and captivating short films from 20 countries around the globe, and features 46 world premieres, including DreamWorks Animation's new animated short, To Gerard. The short films will be presented in 10 distinct competition programs which include five narrative, four documentary, and one animation program. For the fourth consecutive year, 40 percent of the selections are directed by female filmmakers. Queen Collective by Procter & Gamble in partnership with Queen Latifah, Flavor Unit Entertainment and Tribeca Studios is back, a program dedicated to supporting gender and racial equality behind the camera. The 2020 shorts lineup is programmed by Sharon Badal and Ben Thompson. The 2020 Tribeca Film Festival takes place April 15 - April 26.

The Philippine Theater Educational Association's (PETA) 52nd season-ender is unlike the more popular stage plays (e.g., The Normal Heart or Angels in America), which also talk about HIV and AIDS. Categorized by its creators as a a?oedrama anthology,a?? Under My Skin is a one-act play that weaves through several stories based on the experiences of real-life Filipino individuals living with HIV. At the onset, the main agenda of the play is to educate its audience with correct and updated information about HIV and AIDS in the Philippines.

Step Afrika! returns with its newest production, Drumfolk, based on historical events that took place during the 1700s in the Deep South. Building upon the success of The Migration: Reflections on Jacob Lawrence (New Victory 2017), Step Afrika! takes audiences on a journey from the 18th century to present-day America, where body percussion has shaped such modern art forms as hip hop and African American social dance, among others. Drumfolk runs at New Victory from February 28 - March 15, 2020, as part of the production's 10-city tour across the U.S.

The UC San Diego Department of Theatre and Dance presents Man In Love by Christina Anderson and directed by Stephen Buescher. Midwestern Metropolis during the Great Depression is severely segregated. If you're from 'The Spread' you are trying to survive another eviction notice, soup line, or night on the street. If you're from the segregated Black area called 'The Zoo' you are literally fighting for your life. The bodies of Black women are turning up dead all over the city. It's not even safe to stay inside. Christina Anderson's play Man in Love is about race, love, and terror, all living side by side.

The Costume Designers Guild announced today that Academy Award-winner Charlize Theron will be honored with the Spotlight Award, Academy Award-winning screenwriter, director and producer Adam McKay will be bestowed the Distinguished Collaborator Award, and former owner of Bill Hargate Costumes Mary Ellen Fields will receive the Distinguished Service Award at the 22nd CDGA (Costume Designers Guild Awards).
