What could be a better holiday gift to Milwaukee than a World Premiere adaptation of Dickens' beloved A Christmas Carol? On Friday night, Artistic Director Mark Clements opened his resplendent adaptation for the Milwaukee Repertory Theater in the gorgeous Pabst Theatre. In this innovative adaptation by Clements in collaboration with a stunning artistic team, the production renewed holiday magic in the company's 41st year for the city that Clements and The Rep call home.

 Milwaukee Repertory Theater announces casting for the World Premiere adaptation of A Christmas Carol.  Previously announced Milwaukee Rep favorite Jonathan Wainwright (Of Mice of Men, A Christmas Carolas Mr. Cratchit), will make his debut as Scrooge becoming the 12th actor in Milwaukee Rep history to portray one of Dicken's most recognizable characters.  He'll be joined by many familiar faces including Associate Artist Jonathan Gillard Daly (Man of La Mancha, Of Mice and Men) as Mr. Fezziwig, Michael Doherty (Ragtime) as Fred, Associate Artist Angela Iannone as Mrs. Fezziwig, Chike Johnson (Of Mice and Men) as Ghost of Christmas Present, Associate Artist Reese Madigan (Five Presidents) as Bob Cratchit, Associate Artist Jonathan Smoots (A Christmas Carol) as Marley, Malkia Stampley(Dreamgirls) as Mrs. Cratchit and Associate Artist Deborah Staples (Harvey, The Amish Project) as Ghost of Christmas Past.   Complete casting to be announced at a later date.

The Milwaukee Rep embarked on a new journey when Mark Clements presented a resplendent Ragtime to open the company's 60th anniversary season in September 2013. As Clements begins his second term as Artistic Director, this Ragtime production carries the audience for a ride on the 'wheels of a dream' with a lingering presence few will encounter. One of Shakespeare's most tragic heroes squares off against literature's greatest villain in a visceral, sexy, hard-driving story of intrigue, betrayal and vengeance, as Iago leads Othello to the edge of jealous madness by sowing seeds of doubt about his wife's fidelity. This classic revenge tragedy comes to life in a modern and edgy adaptation set in the world of motorcycle gangs. This production of Othello will be directed by Artistic Director Mark Clements, the role of Othello will be performed by guest actor Lindsay Smiling, and the role of Iago will be performed by Rep Resident Acting Company Member Gerard Neugent.
